The Great Stair Climb 2017

On May 4, 2017, The Mental Rescue Society will be hosting the The 2nd Annual Great Stair Climb. This 24 hour event will help raise awareness for mental health. We're taking this challenge on "one step at a time," much like how those living with mental illness cope "one day at a time."

This event was created to help build a community of people that supports, encourages, and motivates those dealing with mental and physical struggles. We are all touched by someone in our lives that has gone down or is going down the road of darkness. These stairs represent the pain, loneliness, fear, that embodies these mental illnesses. We want to show that with proper treatments, preparations and supports, no stair is to tough to climb. Together we can make a difference in someones life,

We are raising funds for a local non profit counselling service called Momentum. A mental health triage center, helping individuals who cannot pay for or wait for aid through the traditional health care system. They are a walk-in agency providing support and guidance to people in need of counselling services. Momentum is staffed by a team of volunteer, Registered Health Professionals who collaborate to provide clients Single Session Therapy solutions.

We encourage everyone to come out and support Momentum during this intense 24 hour event. If you feel up to it, join in on the workout by registering today and climb the stairs solo or as a team. A minimum donation will be required to take part in the event. Information about the donations can be found below.

Teams
Teams will be encouraged to participate for the full 24 hours. One member of your team will need to be on the stairs at all times. Work as a group to support those who are climbing and trade off based on time or stairs climbed. It will be up to you and your team to decide who goes when and for how long. Any team not able to commit to the full 24 hours will still be entered for our door prizes and give aways. Teams will consist of 2-24 participants.
How many steps will your team complete?

Solos
Any Soloist challenging themselves to the full 24 hour climb, please come early to register and warm up as you are in for an epic journey. Mental Rescue Co-founders Rob and Paul will be climbing along side you to help support and encourage. For those looking for a more timely challenge, join us at your convenience throughout the event hours and take part in the climb. You can set a goal of 1000 stairs or maybe come out for an hour and sweat.  Setting goals is part of the fun, achieving them is what really excites the brain and makes us feel whole.
